Chicco Time!

Addison and I were out and about today running errands. We went to Walmart - HUGE mistake the last Sunday before Christmas, but we needed to go...we braved the elements (weather and crowds) and we made it through! Afterwards we decided to head to Babies R Us and pick up our travel system stroller/car seat! We, of course, had a coupon to use before the holidays, so wanted to get that used. We decided on a Chicco stroller a long time ago because we heard it is a great brand from family members who have used that brand and it is very user friendly. Anything that is easy is a-okay in my book! We decided on the travel system because it has everything we need right away to bring the baby home from the hospital and then take a trip to target. You just clip the car seat right into the stroller and you are on your way!

It was very easy to put together! Here are some pics!

Curtains Are Up!

So we picked up the curtains from Addison's grandma last week and we got them home and put them up! They look great! Now we just need to get some hooks so we can tie them back! Here is a pic of them closed.

We are still waiting on a tension rod for the closet, so that fabric isn't up yet! More to come!

30 weeks!

Here is my 30 week pic! This was taken last Friday. I am wearing the same shirt because I wanted to see the difference from last week to this week because I felt I had gotten bigger. I think I was right!

29 weeks!

Better late than never! Here is my 29 week picture. This was taken on Dec 9th. Still feeling good and not uncomfortable yet! Hope it stays that way!

Empathy Belly

Addison and I are in a baby class right now called Child Birth Preparation. It's a four week class and we have been to three of the four. Our class last night -- all of the "coaches" aka husbands got to put on a empathy belly to see how much weight we are carrying at the end of pregnancy. The belly weighs 35 lbs. Addison said he didn't think it was that bad to wear, but he only had to have it on for a couple of minutes! We have one more class of this, then we also have a baby care class next Wednesday as well. We can use as much information as we can get!

I've been feeling very good still! I am going to the dr every two weeks now, so my next appt is on Monday at 30 weeks. She is moving around A LOT lately and I am able to start distinguishing what body parts I am feeling. While I was going to lunch today, I think her hand was pushing up on my left side. It was cute!

The 29 week belly picture will be posted later this wknd! Addison thinks I am getting bigger - its hard to tell when I see it every day!

Happy Friday everyone!

Curtain Update!

A few days ago we got the call from Addison's grandma that the curtains were completed! Yeah!! We are excited to pick them up from her this Sunday, and hopefully get them up Sunday night! Pictures will be following of course! Then all we will have to do is get some more shelves and also do the closet storage. We are heading to some home improvement stores this wknd, so we might be getting some shelving and closet stuff soon! Wish us luck!

First Baby Shower!

Cece made this cute diaper cake!

My mom and Add's mom gave us this Mamaroo as a shower gift. My mom wanted to see if in action before they left, so Add put it together!

Here is a cute tote that my friend Val got me with all of the books I received at the shower. I will be able to read to baby b a lot now with all of the fun books!

I had my first baby shower in Des Moines for Addison's family and friends in the area! My friends Abbey and Cece hosted the shower and they did a great job with planning, food, etc! Thanks ladies! :) Of course, I brought home a lot of great stuff for baby b. When we brought it all in I didnt know where we would put everything! I got everything out of the bags, boxes right away and tried to organize!

Christmas Decorating!

Add Image

Last Sunday after getting home from Thanksgiving at my parents house we started in on our Christmas decorating. My parents weren't going to use their Christmas tree any more, so they gave it to us! We had a little 6 ft smaller tree, and this is a 8 ft full tree. It looks great in our family room - we had to make enough space for it since our family room isn't the biggest! Here are some pictures of our decorating. Its nice that since our house isn't very big, a little decoration goes a lot way! The wreath was made by my best friend Brittney (she is so crafty) and she also gave me the candle holder aka "menorah" as well :) It looks great on our coffee table!

28 weeks!

Here is my 28th week belly pictures! Feeling very good & still sleeping perfectly! So hopefully we will keep it going for a while! Next week we will be at 40 weeks! I can't believe how quick the time as gone. Only 11 weeks to go! We are going through our first baby class right now "Baby Preparation." It is pretty much Lamaze class. We go through different birthing positions, breathing techniques, and more. We have learned something in each class, so I'm glad that we are taking it! We have been to two of four classes so far!

27 weeks!

Sorry for the delay in more posts! With Thanksgiving, etc I've been busy! I'm sorry!! Here is my 27th week belly picture!

Updating the Desk...

Since we transitioned the office to a nursery, one of our first things we wanted to get new was a desk. We were going to put this new desk in our spare bedroom and make the room both an office and bedroom since we don't have too many guests staying with us all the time. This, of course, might change once the lil one comes along. I know my mom said she was going to be in town a lot more, which is great :) I'm sure I can use all the help I can get!
We placed our old desk (which was Addison's desk in college) on craigs list for a whopping $10.00 and went to Homemakers, a local furniture store, and picked out a new desk. Addison wanted a desk with a hutch on it so he could store items. We found the one we wanted and it was a pretty good price!
Of course when you buy a piece of furniture now-a-days, you have to put it together yourself. Addison got everything out of the box, but of course one of the first main parts you use to put it together was broken. We ordered a new piece online, and it came about 3 -4 days later. It just set us back a few days. This desk had sooooo many pieces to it!!! Addison worked on it and got it up and running! It looks great and fits in the room perfectly!

26 week ultrasound

Addison and I surprised our parents by taking them to a 3d/4d ultrasound last weekend. It was a great experience for every one and we got to see how she was developing! She was a little stubborn during the ultrasound because she wouldn't move from one spot so we couldn't get a full face shot! Oh well -- hopefully this means she will be a very sleepy, quiet content baby when we arrives! Here is a picture of one of the ultrasound pics!

Week 25!

Here is my week 25 pic!
This is not the best pic, but oh well! You get what you get :) Belly is growing fast!

Emergency Over!

Yesterday Best Buy delivered our new Samsung washer/dryer!! Yah! If you can't tell I am super excited about this because its hard going even a week without doing laundry!

It took them about an hour to get our old washers out and the new ones in! Let me tell you in one word how to describe these new appliances: GLORIOUS!

They work and run great. They are so quiet you can hardly even hear them and they are so new and shiny that I will be happy to do anyone's laundry! Here are some before pics and pics of the new ones!

Nursery so far...

Here is one picture of the nursery so far! We still need to hang the curtains, shelves, and more cloest space, but we are getting close to being "done." Now we can just start filling it with cut little clothes, etc!

Time for the Crib!

Addison put the crib together a few weeks ago! Sorry I am behind getting the pictures up. The crib looks great! It goes really well with the rest of the furniture & is the perfect size for the peanut's small, cozy room.

Work of Art

We put up the art work on one of the walls! It looks great! We centered in on the wall

and not centered around the crib. Check it out! These prints came from etsy.com. Great place to shop for nursery art, baby items, baby announcements and so much more! What do you think?

House Emergency!

As homeowners we all pray that all of our appliances and stuff are always in working order so we do not have to do any repairs or remodeling to anything we "don't" want to do, but life those you lil wrenches every once in a while! This isn't college anymore where your land lord will just come and fix it! I wish! :)

Last weekend I was doing my usual 3-4 loads of laundry. I finished the first two loads just fine, on my third load the washer started making this LOUD grinding sound! It was an awful sound, so we pretty much knew what that meant. The washer had died.

This wasn't the best timing in the world, with getting the nursery put together, and buying some of our bigger baby items, but what can you do! You need a washer, its one of life's must haves! :)
We decided we were going to buy a new dryer as well, because our dryer is older than the washer (we are not sure how old they are since they were in the house when we purchased it back in 2007), and it would be good to have two brand new appliances once the lil peanut comes. I'm sure we will be having to wash a lot more clothes and bedding when she comes along!
These are our washer/dryer that we currently have in our basement. We went shopping last night and purchased a Samsung front loader washer/dryer set, and it will be delivered to us next Sunday. I will post a picture of them when they arrive! In the meantime I will be heading to the laundry mat t his wknd to do a couple loads of laundry. I thought I might be able to wait until next weekend but I think that might be a little hard!
Keep you posted!

Week 24 pic!

We have reached and stepped over the six month mark! Time has gone fast and so has my waistline :) ha ha... Here is the week 24 picture!

Ottoman Change!

Well I know in my previous post http://ourlifewithatwist.blogspot.com/2010/10/who-said-fleas-were-bad.html, that I said I had bought a ottoman already, but I went to Target and saw this one for $20.00 and I wouldn't have to recover it at all. The other ottoman was also a little tall for the rocker, so I was sold with this new green one! I bought this ottoman and I sold my other ottoman on Craigs List. Perfect solution! This green ottoman goes well with the rocker fabric as well!

Baby Crib!

We finally went out and bought our baby girl's crib on Saturday! We decided to go with a Graco crib from Target. It's called the Graco Charleston. It got good reviews and it goes with the style of our changing table and the feel of the room. It's white which matches the rest of our furniture.

This picture it is still in the box, but thought I would show you anyways! We now have all of the furniture we need for the nursery so that is a plus! Now its just organizing!

Framed Art

Yesterday I framed the three prints I bought off of etsy.com!! If you haven't checked out this website, you are missing out!! The prints arrived last Friday and I was so excited. I went to target and bought three frames and this is how they turned out. They aren't up yet but here is a sneak peek!

23rd week pic!

Here is my 23rd week baby bump pic! Getting a little bigger, but not to much! I had my 24th week dr's appt this morning and everything is going great! Her heart beat was at 150 and I was measuring at 25-26 weeks which is normal as well! Keep you posted!

Window Treatments

Addison's parents came on Tuesday night and put up the faux wood blinds that I purchased at Home Depot for $27.00 a piece. We didn't need to get them cut at all because the windows are a common size (31"). We did have to take out some slats because they were too long. Now they look like customized window treatments! They make a huge difference!

Here are some before and after photos!

Curtains!

Here is the pattern that I picked our for the curtains for the two windows and also the closet! I hope to have the curtains done soon. I was going to try to do them myself but I might have Addison's grandma sew them! I think they will prob turn out better than what I can do :)

I think the fabric is so cute, very feminine but to not busy so they will not look out of place!

What do you think?

Lets Rock!

My mom gave me her rocker that she had when we were babies. So this rocker is coming full circle so I can rock our lil nugget with it! I didnt want to paint it white because this rocker is an antique and I didn't want to ruin its quality. The next beset thing was just to recover the seat cushion. I wanted there to be white in the fabric so it would tie in with the rest of the other furniture.

I went to JoAnn Fabric and they were having a 50% off sale on their home fabrics. I ended up finding the perfect fabric for only $5.00. Addison's parents recovered it for us, it turned out great!

On the back of the rocker is a pillow sham that I found at The Company Store Outlet in Wisconsin, and the pillow/cute green polka dot pattern is a present from my mom. We have one more matching pillow & pillow case that I will use as well! Enjoy!

22 week pic!

Well I think I officially look pregnant :) Addison has been getting "what to expect" texts on his phone and he said in the next couple weeks the baby grows a lot so I will get huge. ha ha...hopefully that doesn't happen so fast!

Nice find!

Addison and I went out shopping on Monday to homemakers to try to find a rug for the nursery. We were disappointed when we got there because there wasn't much selection for kid rugs and the colors we wanted. We had to stop by Target anyway to pick up a few things, so we looked at rugs there. We first looked in the rug section and found a hot pink shag rug that we both liked, then we went over to the kid bedding to see if there was anything else. SCORE! I saw it right away and thought the colors were perfect: pink and green. Also its not to flashy that it will take away from the curtains or anything! What do you think?
